-
Build bowing skills step by step: A hands-on violin bow training kit that helps beginning players develop bow-hand shape, learn bow direction and string positions, understand bow geography, and build control of bow speed and bow length.
-
Develop a natural bow-hand shape: The Bow Hand Guide provides tactile and visual cues that help students learn finger placement, bend the thumb, and curl the pinky while developing a relaxed and consistent bow hand.
-
Learn straight-bow motion before adding sound: The Bow Saddle provides a physical guide for practicing correct straight-bow motion before playing on the strings. It also identifies the G, D, A, and E string positions and shows the direction of up-bows and down-bows.
-
Understand bow speed and how much bow to use: Two adjustable Bow Bats create clear visual reference points on the bow. Moving them closer together or farther apart helps students practice different bow lengths, control bow speed, and become more aware of how much bow they are using.
-
Learn bow geography and where to play: Removable Bow Geography Stickers identify the balance point, middle, and upper third of the bow. Blank Customizable Stickers are also included so teachers or players can create their own identifiers and mark additional bow locations.
Learning to use the violin bow involves several skills at once: developing a natural bow-hand shape, understanding bow direction and string positions, controlling bow speed and bow length, learning bow geography, and developing a straight-bow motion.
The Fantastic Finger Guides Bow Training Kit breaks these skills into clear, manageable steps using visual and tactile teaching tools designed for beginning violinists.
The Bow Hand Guide helps students develop a relaxed, consistent bow-hand shape by providing clear tactile and visual cues for finger placement, a bent thumb, and a curled pinky. It attaches easily to the bow and is simple to remove, making it convenient to add or take off during lessons and practice.
The Bow Saddle allows students to practice straight-bow motion before adding sound. By learning the motion first, students can focus on keeping the bow hand relaxed and moving naturally without being distracted by tone production. Once the motion is established, students can begin applying the same movement to the strings while developing a clear, controlled sound. The Bow Saddle also identifies the G, D, A, and E string positions and helps students learn up-bow and down-bow directions.
Two adjustable Bow Bats create visual reference points on the bow. Teachers and students can change the distance between them to practice different amounts of bow, explore bow speed, and develop greater awareness of bow length.
Watch the Bats. The Bats Watch You Get Better.
The included Bow Geography Stickers help students learn locations on the bow by clearly identifying the balance point (BP), middle (M), and upper third (U3). Blank Customizable Stickers are also included so teachers or players can create their own identifiers or mark additional bow locations.
Together, the tools create a progressive approach to beginning bow technique—helping students understand bow-hand shape, straight-bow motion, bow direction, string positions, bow geography, bow speed, and bow length before gradually applying those skills more independently.
Designed for 3/4 and 4/4 violins and ideal for beginning violin students, private lessons, school orchestra programs, and home practice.
